Isolated Garage - Garage Doors in Glendale, AZ
During the summer, your garage may become uncomfortably hot. You might not use your garage like you want because of this extra heat. However, with these tips, you can decrease the temperature in your garage so you can continue to use it, even when the temperature outside is high.

1. Get an Insulated Garage
You can purchase different types and quality of insulation, but you also want to focus on how much energy the garage door will save you. Therefore, when you compare insulated garage doors, you want to compare the R-value of the door, which is the energy efficiency rating.
Ideally, you want to strive for a garage door with an R rating of around 18 or possibly higher. On average, a garage door with an energy efficiency rating of 18 will keep your garage 25 degrees cooler in the summer.

2. Consider an AC Unit
You may choose between a ductless mini-split air conditioning unit or a window unit. You can install a window air conditioner in your garage if you choose a through-the-wall installation. Generally, however, the window units are more cost-efficient than the ductless mini-split units.

3. Install an Exhaust Fan
This option is particularly useful if you have the sun beating down on your garage during a large portion of the day. Just like an air conditioner, you may install an exhaust fan either through the wall or in the window.
An exhaust fan pulls hot air from inside of your garage to the outside. Ultimately, this process lessens the amount of hot air so the cold air inside of your garage is the only air that remains there.

4. Choose When You Open Your Garage Door Wisely
Only open your garage door at certain times of the day. Try opening your garage door in the morning or later in the evening when the temperature outside is not as hot.
When you open up your garage door, try to accomplish everything you have to as quickly as possible and then promptly close the door. You want to limit the amount of hot air that enters as much as possible.

5. Think About Only Parking Your Car Outside
You may want to consider parking your car outside until you finish using your garage. Your car heats up as you run it. When you park it inside of your garage, this heat radiates off the vehicle and makes the space surrounding your automobile hotter.

6. Choose When You Go in Your Garage Carefully
Although a fan, an air conditioner, insulation, and parking your car outside help to decrease the temperature in your garage, you may also want to choose when you use your garage. Generally, your garage will not have much time to heat up if you use it in the morning.

You want to avoid your garage as much as possible in the afternoon as this usually has the hottest hours of the day and causes your garage to reach its highest temperature.

Your garage may be where your kids play and you work on household projects. You may even use the garage as your workout area. No matter what you use your garage for though, you more than likely want it to stay cool. One of the main ways to accomplish this is by opting for a new garage door with insulation.
